First

I could have written this on the 1st of February. Fresh Month. Fresh Start.

But I didn’t. It is the 31st of January; the day before a fresh month – a fresh start.

So why didn’t I wait until tomorrow? Someone else would have done that. Maybe anyone else would have done that! Could we determine what number of the population of the earth would have done that via some elaborate scientific experiment combined with statistical theory?

I think not. And that is the point of my blog.

It is about the complexity of human nature. Every single human being can be inspiring, discouraging, beautiful, ugly, intelligent, stupid, wise, naive, humble, arrogant, strong, weak, brave, cowardly, benevolent, cruel, happy and sad, good and bad – all within the space of a few seconds, minutes, days, months or years.

Throw in each human being’s opinion or perspective on subjects both mundane and profound such as how to make a cup of tea and how to eradicate world poverty, not to mention each human being’s opinion or perspective on other human beings, and you have the perfect recipe for chaos.

It is indeed fascinating that there is any kind of order in a world dominated by humans. One cannot help but think that humans are perhaps collectively just another entropic system. However, the first quality I mentioned – inspiring – is not something to be taken for granted.
