Eating is a simple act. Yet the question of what humans should eat is a complex one. But why?

Those humans who are reasonably well-off have a lot of choice when it comes to food. The availability of choice spawns the necessity for discrimination. This is a far cry from the hunter-gatherer Early Man who ate what he/she got. No ethical dilemma. No fear of judgement. No restrictions due to religion. More importantly, no real danger of ruining the environment.

Sheep

We humans are all different and yet we are the same. Difference is celebrated but only to a certain extent. The illusion of order in this chaotic world is brought about by suppressing certain differences and highlighting others.

Religion, race, country and myriad other “differences” are used by the powers that be to turn people against each other. However, if it turns out to be lucrative to corporations, these very things are used to unite people – to turn them into a flock of sheep to consume whatever is thrown at them. There are some types of division that drive the profits of corporations and some types of unison that achieve the same thing.

First

I could have written this on the 1st of February. Fresh Month. Fresh Start.

But I didn’t. It is the 31st of January; the day before a fresh month – a fresh start.

So why didn’t I wait until tomorrow? Someone else would have done that. Maybe anyone else would have done that! Could we determine what number of the population of the earth would have done that via some elaborate scientific experiment combined with statistical theory?
